| 11:00am | 129th Bok Kai Festival Parade 6th & D Streets, winding down D Street, up 1st Street and ending at 2nd & C Streets This year's parade is truly an historic event, featuring DOUBLE DRAGONS! The 2009 parade will be the last run of our beloved Lung Huang, a 152-foot dragon, and the premiere of our brand-new 175-foot dragon who just arrived in Marysville from China last month. In addition to the two dragons, there will be Lion Dancers, marching bands, dignitaries, floats, Shriners, and much more. |

| Food & Vendors 2nd & D Streets Get your 2009 Festival t-shirts, 2009 posters featuring the art of California artist Greg Scargall, 2009 Year of the Ox cachets (you know, the fancy envelopes from the Post Office) and other Bok Kai items, plus great items from Ben's Collectibles, Kong's Jade, Cheng Cheng Trading, D&L Creations, Lis International, The Big Iguana, and metal art from Creative Cuts Unlimited. Oh yes, there will be Pork Buns! Plus, there will be lots of other tasty treats available so bring your appetite and enjoy lunch at the 129th Bok Kai Festival while you watch the performances and visit our vendors. There's certain to be something that will tickle your tummy from The Jerky King to chicken kabobs & eggrolls to hot dogs & lemon freezes to delicious kettle corn to tasty Mexican, wontons, and many more delights! |
Sunday - March 1, 2009, Bomb Day
| 2:00pm | Firing of the Bombs 1st & C Streets, Marysville One hundred handmade ceremonial "bombs" will be tossed into the air followed by a mad dash for the lucky rings contained inside the individual bombs. This colorful activity, known as "The Firing of the Bombs", is punctuated by the vivid snapping and popping of fireworks and is sponsored by the Sahm Fow Chinese Community. This event is open for public viewing only. |
An Exhibit of Dragons is on display at YSRAC Gallery through March 6. The exhibit features a history of the dragons of Marysville, including the travels of Moo Lung, the oldest Chinese parade dragon in the United States, dragon lore, artifacts, and other photos. A display featuring the family of Aneka Lim McKean, the 2009 Bok Kai Festival Hostess and granddaughter of Tim & Kay Lim, is also on display at YSRAC Gallery. The exhibit is free and open to the public, Tuesday-Friday from 9 until 5pm and on display through March 6.
